Notes I bought my Montage from Alain Vanhollebeke in Kansas Sept. 2002.When he bought it it was mostly completed on a VW chassis. He took the body off the VW pan and ordered a V8 tube chassis from Dave at Warp 5 which took 6 months to get,it was delivered to him at the end of July 2002.So Im basically starting with a bare chassis and body with some misc. parts.I have started working on it late oct 2002 and have made some modifications to the chassis to get things the way I want.I will try to keep my web page up dated.

Notes from previous owner:

I recenly bought this Montage in Wisconsin from an owner that "didn't have time" for it anymore.

I then contacted Pete K. (we have previously met since I also own a FFR cobra), and we went to see Dave Schroeder at Warp 5. Warp 5 is about 80 miles from me. Dave still has all of the tooling for the Manta cars, so I "hired" him to build me a new v8 w/Porsche transaxle "set up" tubeframe for my Montage. Dave gave Pete K. and me a complete tour of his facility, and it was hard to keep from drooling over all of the cool stuff he has there.

I am obviously going to do a complete rebuild of my Montage. Basically, I am going to keep the body & windows, and replace everything else.

I already have a Porsche 915 gearbox and an all aluminum Buick 215 v8 for the car. I am going to put an aluminum interior in it w/ Momo seats & matching suede leather wheel.

Once I pick up the chassis, I will start to collect the tubular control arms & high perf brake parts etc for it. Once the chassis is finished and the body is on, then it will be time to get some lightweight 3 piece wheels made. The folks who made the wheels for my Cobra also make reproductions of the original McLaren wheels, so that is an option if I can get them made in 17 inch sizes to fit "modern" performance tires.

On the body, I would really love to get rid of the "square lights" and replace them with the round over/under style assemblies. This is one area where I definately need help, as I'm not a body guy. Hopefully someone out the has made molds from a similar car that can be used to make new assemblies?

This is not going to be finished quickly. But I have done similar projects like this one before. Depending on the all important "cashflow" I should have a "presentable" car in about a year.
